UFC 232 Jones vs. Gustafsson 2: Fight Card, Odds + Our Half-Assed Musings!

Dec. 29, 2018
T-Mobile Arena
Las Vegas, Nevada
The Forum
Los Angeles, California

Main Card on PPV (pm/CT):

Vacant Light Heavyweight Title
Jon Jones (22-1) -255 vs. #3 Alexander Gustafsson (18-4) +235

The saga of moron Jon Jones never ends. This cunt, has tested positive for Turinabol yet again! Yes, again. A drug test on December 8th, revealed a "drug-testing abnormality" and immediately the UFC spin team went into action.

* Let them tell you it was a "trace amount" that would give Jon "no performance enhancement."

The Rules:
You must have clean tests for 6 months after a failed test to be allowed to complete. Period.

Fight Over.

Also, if it is a "tainted supplement" he's still guilty! How many times can someone blame the tainted supplement without repercussions? It is their job to know what they put in their bodies and they are responsible for it. Elia Theodorou personally has his supplements tested by a 3rd party to remain clean, but was denied a license for marijuana!

Also, Tom Lawlor recently retired from MMA after a two-year suspension for trace amounts of... you guessed it, Turinabol!!

So to get their money, and make no mistake, this isn't about getting fans the fight they want to see, it's about the UFC getting their money while they ruin the sport.

The UFC is screwing over fans with plane tickets and hotel reservations for Las Vegas, fighters who had plane tickets and hotel reservations for themselves, family, coaches, and friends, for a habitual liar and fraud. Stay classy UFC.

This is a fucking joke, an obvious sham, and the continual degrading of the sport. Mark our words, these acts are detrimental to the sport and only hurt things in the long run. This is so corrupt that the government needs to look in on how things are being run. They've done it with other sports and the UFC has proven they cannot be trusted and will scheme to get their way no matter the costs. The UFC is slowly ruining MMA.

WINNER-The UFC

Women’s Featherweight Champion #1 Cristiane Justino -240 (20-1) vs. Amanda Nunes (16-4) +220

Current female G.O.A.T., Cristiane Justino has not lost since her 1st profession fight in 2005. "Cyborg" won her next 20 and only 3 ladies made it to see the judges! That, is an impressive career. Ronda nothing, Justino has beaten the likes of Holly Holm, Tonya Evinger, Leslie Smith, Marloes Coenen, Shayna Baszler, Gina Carano, and many more foolish challengers. This lady is simply the best female fighter ever and has done it with Tyson-like power punching and fast twitch muscles. "Cyborg" is as deadly as they come and has never been pushed in her dominance.

The "Lioness" has amassed an impressive record as well, dispatching Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko, and more in her title supremacy. Nunes has perfected her game at ATT mixing in good grappling skills (though seldom used) and gorgeous boxing skills. She's a full package but it should be noted she has been finished by Cat Zingano and Alexis Davis so there is the possibility of a loss standing.

What a great fight between the #1 and #2 greatest female fighters of all time! Really, this should be the Main Event with what is at stake here, instead of being overshadowed by the cover-up of a habitual cheater who is obviously protected by the collaborate efforts of the UFC and CSAC who have dollar signs in their eyes. Anywho, good luck to Nunes getting "Cyborg" down and keeping her there for any decent length of time. Standing, we will always side with Justino who can just mulch faces with her hands. MMAFO says Cristiane is going to remain the G.O.A.T. and best Amanda in a fun historical fight!

WINNER-Cristiane Justino by Rd.3 TKO

Carlos Condit (30-12) +145 vs. Michael Chiesa (14-4) -165

Tell us it ain't true "NBK." Tell us it ain't over. Condit has been struggling mightily losing 5 of his last 6 and falling out of the Top 10 for the 1st time in a long time. It's been bad. The Tyron Woodley fight as an injury sure. Robbie Lawler was a war and no slight there. Demian Maia just embarrassed Condit but that can happen with a quick sub. With Neil Magny it seemed Carlos just couldn't get going and against Alex Oliveira, he was similarly starting slow and unable to fire back. So, can the "Phoenix" rise again at the age of 34?

Chiesa is a cunt. There we said it. MMAFO has never liked this guy from the jump. He's a complainy bitch always with an excuse.

We're blatantly biased here so take that as you may. Chiesa is a white trash version of trash Alex Oliveira so he'll probably storm through Carlos for the sub, but we refuse to pick it. Here's hoping Mike loses consciousness somehow even if it's tripping and falling into the cage on his head.

Upset Pick WINNER-Carlos Condit by Rd.1 KO

#7 Ilir Latifi (14-5) -150 vs. #9 Corey Anderson (11-4) +130

"The Swedish Sledgehammer" has amassed a cult following and created a tidy 7-3 record for the UFC, while gradually making himself into a contender at the shallow 205 league. Latifi has only lost to the very elite (and Jan Blachowicz) but he's got Thor's thunder in his hands if he connects.

"Beastin' Overtime" is always gonna be decent, but he's never going to be a contender. Anderson has some boxing, some wrestling, and nothing special in his arsenal. He's good, not great. Tough, but he's been (T)KO'd 3 times as well. Just annoying enough to spoil things now and again without being a real threat.

Obviously, we're not that high on Corey (anymore) and the fan support of Latifi is fun to get behind, but can the anvil of a man avoid losing points on the cards from takedowns and occasional punches landed? This could really be close going down the stretch but Odin himself will intervene to grant a punch that could stop the Kraken and end Anderson's evening.

WINNER-Ilir Latifi by Rd.1 KO

#5 Chad Mendes (18-4) -160 vs. #6 Alexander Volkanovski (18-1) +140

MMAFO is nothing if not honest and fair. We backed "Money" for a long time but he should have admitted fault for his PED failure. The 2 year suspension has been served and Chad got back to work defeating Myles Jury in July to purge the negative feelings. Mendes is still in his prime and ready to wreck the division.

Alexander "The Great" has won 15 in a row and brings the support of the entire island of Australia (the island thing is a joke people). Volkanovski is kind of another version of Mendes. A burly striker/grappler who is ultra tough, bla, bla, bla.

So, we can't find a ton of reasons either way save for all the experience Chad has and at such a higher level. This can go either way but we'll still side with the veteran until he gives us reason to doubt or fails another test.

WINNER-Chad Mendes by Decision

Prelims on Fox Sports 1 (7pm/CT):

Andrei Arlovski (27-17) +150 vs. Walt Harris (11-7) -170

No, goddammit no! Stop booking Arlovski. He's just taking up a roster spot and occasionally knocking off low level fighters when he isn't getting hurt. Andrei didn't get knocked out this year so he's looking to get it in just under the wire. Harris is terrible but he'll land something.

WINNER-Walt Harris by Rd.1 KO

Megan and Odin
Cat Zingano (10-3) -145 vs. #2 Megan Anderson (8-3) +125

This is a more important women's fight that people are noticing. The other top 145 female fighter in Anderson against a new challenger in the blossoming new weight class. The winner is the loser in being gifted a title shot against "Cyborg."

"Alpha" Cat has been through it all and MMAFO are fans. From her personal struggles to in-cage errors, to battling concussion symptoms, this lady does not give up! Zingano finally got a much needed win in July looking more comfortable in the cage and using her varied skills to get the nod.

The Aussie finally got her shot in the UFC but lost to Holly Holm as he lack of a ground game was exposed. Megan is still a heavy hitter mixing in flying knees and attacking with ruthless aggression. She does lack defense in all areas.

As much as we like "Alpha" Cat, she does make a lot of glaring mistakes in-fight. Were she to take Anderson down she could easily win. However, we see her getting into more of a brawl with the plucky come forward Megan which will be her undoing.

Upset Pick WINNER-Megan Anderson by Rd.2 TKO

Douglas Silva de Andrade (25-2) +250 vs. Petr Yan (10-1) -300

DSdA sounds like a government agency but it's really it's a power puncher from Brazil with 19 finishing kills on his resume.

From Mother Russia, by way of Tiger Muay Thai, comes "No Mercy." The "Master of Sport" has done well in the UFC winning his 1st two impressively. Petr is a little monster of a man who throws technically well and with power.

This is gonna be great. These guys are gonna bomb on common sense for our entertainment. Andrade needs to land a good one while he swings big while Yan can more effectively pick his shots and use the ground as an advantage if he gets in trouble.

WINNER-Petr Yan by Decision

BJ Penn (16-12-2) +380 vs. Ryan Hall (6-1) -475

Are you fucking with us? Why in Hawaiian hell would the UFC keep booking this overrated relic? Penn has lost 5 in a row, and has not won a fight since 2011! Even worse, the man has rarely put his entire effort into a training camp his entire career, and has coasted to a record full of losses upon folklore and not results. The 40 year old is praised as a great striker, yet he hasn't shown any relevant skills there since he has a 155er in 2009. The Jiu-Jitsu skills are also heralded, and though he remains flexible, he hasn't show any offense on the mats in an era. This guy was never the savant everyone made him out to be and now we watch his continual fall off the cliff where he manages to hit every rock on his slow roll down.

There's a lot of hate on old Ryan and MMAFO is not sure why. He's his own man. He has interesting cultured views on the world and isn't only about fighting. When he's in the cage, his Jiu-Jitsu is stellar though the fans don't appreciate it. It's always strange when Georges St. Pierre gets a pass on being "boring" his entire career while another guy is boo'd relentlessly. The UFC joined in the bullying benching Hall after his intelligent win over Gray Maynard in '16, but he's back to collect a bald scalp.

BJ could strike early and get this going his way, but he won't. Old punchy fighters just cannot throw their hands (are we right Chuck Liddell?) and neither will Penn. Instead, he'll be frustrating with the guard pulling and trip attempts from Hall all night as he annoys the fans by defeating BJ with a grin on his face.

WINNER-Ryan Hall by Decision
