Bellator 212 & 213: Fight Cards, Written Things + Odds

Lightweight Champion Brent Primus (8-0) +415 vs. Michael Chandler (18-4) -525 [Rematch]

Primus shocked the world, well, at least Chandler, in June of 2017 when he won the Lightweight Championship. The caveat is that Mikey screwed his ankle forcing the stoppage and the big upset. Then a knee injury sidelined Brent while the Mizzou alumni went to work winning his next three. Look, Mike is gonna win this provided he doesn't have the worst luck in the world.

WINNER-Michael Chandler by Rd.3 TKO

Frank Mir (18-12) +110 vs. Javy Ayala (10-7) -130

For some unknown reason, the 2-time UFC Heavyweight Champion and 1st ballot Hall of Famer, Francisco Santos Mir III believes at age 39, with 30 professional bouts, that he should still be competing in MMA. Frank, you have nothing to prove and you are only taking damage (9 KO losses) and even winning in Bellator isn't going to add to the legacy. People should just listen to Frank's podcast, Phone Booth Fighting

"Eye Candy" is a funny play on the fact Ayala is a fatty fat fat tubbard.

MMAFO sends a shallow prayer to the MMA Gods and ask that they look over Frank Mir and perhaps, if our offerings are good, provide him with a quick victory in your honor.

Alejandra Lara (7-2) +220 vs. Juliana Velasquez (7-0) -260

Well, I mean, do we have to fight about it ladies? A lot of lovely, ahem, anyway, um, "Azul" is coming off a loss to Bellator Flyweight Champion Illima-Lei Macfarlane in June and looking to rebound. The Colombian likes to look for the finish but she's green at 24.

The Brazilian trains with the respected Team Nogueira and has yet to taste defeat and at age 32, she's legit.

WINNER-Juliana Velasquez by Decision

Sam Sicilia (16-9) +340 vs. Derek Campos (10-2) -425

Sam Sicilia is still fighting? Sam Sicilia is still fighting. Huh, that, seems unnecessary. Sicilia is awful and trains at one of the worst camps in all of MMA, Sikjitsu

The looks like a "Stallion," is a tough guy but he just can't break through to the elite of the division continually just falling short. Even so, Derek is capable while Sam is not.

Sicilia likes to get finished to bet appropriately.

WINNER-Derek Campos by Rd.2 TKO

AJ McKee (12-0) -1500 vs. Daniel Crawford (10-2) +1000

"Mercenary" McKee is a chip off the old block as he's been brought along properly and really developed a well rounded game at only 23. The sky really is the limit for this kid and it's just interesting to watch him develop. AJ2 does whatever he feels en route to a victory.

WINNER-AJ McKee by Rd.2 DDT

We'd like to take a couple of seconds to point out Bellator made a really beautiful poster for this event which is especially impressive in the copy/paste world of MMA. Nice work.

Flyweight Champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (8-0) -185 vs. Valerie Letourneau (10-6) +160

MMAFO wasn't all that impressed when Scott Coker brought the Punahouan into Bellator in '15, but she's got our attention now. "The Illimator" has been subbing her opponents left and right en route to the inaugural women's Flyweight title.

"Trouble" is coming in the form of 35 year old Valerie Letourneau from Canada via ATT. Val has gotten her groove back going 2-0 since joining Bellator.

Letourneau is a decent well traveled veteran and we wish her well. However, there isn't a ton to impress one and she is on the wrong side of her prime. If we're going to do some grappling, since neither lady is hurting anyone on the feet, you have to side with Macfarlane who just seems more dynamic, skilled, and with an ability to finish. This isn't going to be the day Ilima-Lei loses what with things in her homeland of Hawaii and all, that would just be cruel.

WINNER-Ilima-Lei Macfarlane by Rd.3 Submission

Lyoto Machida (24-8) -110 vs. Rafael Carvallo (15-2) -110

At the age of 40, "The Dragon" is making the career move to Bellator and we respect that. Machida has competed at the highest level and even won gold with his karate based game. Now he's just making some money and having fun. Go on with your bad old self Lyoto.

The fellow Brazilian found out about "The Dreamcatcher" who snatched away his title in a mere round in May.  You have to think the competitor who stomped his way through the Bellator rankings to claim the belt, and had not tasted defeat since his debut MMA fight in '11, will be looking to take a famous scalp and reclaim his position in the company.

We're gonna tell you straight up, this is a bad fight for Machida. He's facing a bruiser who can crush and is a better version of Derek Brunson who starched Lyoto last year. We didn't expect Bellator to place "The Dragon" in contender bouts and in the future, let's just set up the oldie with some fun bouts against Dan Severn or Ken Shamrock.

WINNER-Rafael Carvallo by Decision

Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix

Nemian Gracie (8-0) +305 vs. Ed Ruth (8-0) -365

Gracie is a Gracie and that's cute and all in the MMA world , but Ruth is going to fuck him up. Ed is a 3 time NCAA D1 Champion and he should have a crazy bright future in the coming years.

WINNER-Ed Ruth by Decision

Muhammed Lawal (21-7) -235 vs. Liam McGeary (12-3) +195

"King Mo" cannot seem to get any steam going as he has alternated wins and losses for the last couple of years. It should be noted Lawal had a terrible staph infection that may have ruined him as he's never been the same since. "Mo" also plays in "pro wrestling" so that doesn't help either but he's a good boxer and staunch wrestler.

Liam was absolutely rolling a few years ago, winning the Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament of '14, and then capturing the Bellator Light Heavyweight title, even defending it in a win over Tito Ortiz. Then, disaster struck. Phil Davis came in and quickly stole the belt from McGeary who then lost 2 of his next 3. Bad times for the Brit. He's gotta find some new tricks soon.

Barring McGeary finding some new hold that is going to set the world afire, this is gonna be bad. "King Mo" should have little trouble holding down Liam who likes to work off his back to his detriment causing him to lose rounds seeking that submission. Boxing should be Lawal's as well but if the length coming his way is an issue, ahem, canvas.

WINNER-Muhammed Lawal by Decision
