UFC on Fox 31 The Final UFC on Fox Show: Some Musings + Odds

Dec. 15, 2018
Fiserv Forum
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Main Card on FOX (7pm/CT):

#5 Kevin Lee (17-3) -350 vs. #9 Al Iaquinta (13-4-1) +290

Back in '14, a young Kevin Jesse Lee, Jr. made his debut for the UFC only to lose to one "Ragin" Al Iaquinta. Now 4 years later, the men meet again after 21 fights between them.

"The Mowtown Phenom" rematches "The Long Island Idiot." This would be more fun if it were a mic battle, imagine hearing these two opinionated assholes going at it, but it's not. Mr. Lee is a smart dude and he has greatly improved his game over the years while Iaquinta is half-assing things dealing with being a Real Estate salesman and bickering with the UFC brass. This will be entertaining but Kev runs game.

WINNER-Kevin Lee by Decision

#8 Edson Barboza (19-6) +100 vs. Dan Hooker (17-7) -120

It's been a rough go as of late for Barboza. The Brazilian striker just got the shit beaten out of him for his last two fights. Khabib Nurmagomedov brutalized him and then Kevin Lee humbled him. But to put him as an "underdog" here seems misplaced. Ed has more striking prowess now than Dan will ever know.

The prostitute is good and improving each time out, but the athleticism edge is easily in favor of his opponent. Dan seems like someone to watch but he's not ready for this Brazilian Buzzsaw coming his way.

Upset Pick WINNER-Edson Barboza by Decision

Rob Font (15-4) -165 vs. #6 Sergio Pettis (17-4) +145

Pettis Jr. has fled the dying Flyweight division and attempts to make another run at Bantamweight against the up and down Font. These guys fight similar styles, but Robbie has more (though very little) power and is bigger. Big brother beatin' down lil' brother here.

WINNER-Rob Font by Decision

Jim Miller (29-12) +270 vs. Charles Oliveira (24-8) -330 [Rematch]

Eight years after their original meeting, the two vets clash again and what has changed? Both have remained competitive but the finishing go-for-broke style of Oliveira has not treated him well. Chuck tends to finish or get finished and has proven to be terrible at weight cuts and getting less durable in the cage.

Miller, "A10," what, we're calling him "A10" now? Anywho Jim is as tough and blue collar as they come. He's not flashy but functional and after defeating his real enemy Lyme's disease, Miller has actually aged better.

Nah, Charles doesn't deserve to win this. MMAFO has a lot of bias here for our old man mentor, but we also think he'll out tough Oliveira who will find a way to quit as he has done many times in the past.

Upset Pick WINNER-Jim Miller by Rd.3 TKO

Prelims on Fox Sports 1 (4pm/CT):

Zak Ottow (16-6) +235 vs. Dwight Grant (8-1) -275

Grant trains with AKA, and if they have installed within him the ability to sprawl and brawl properly, he'll steal one here against a nobody.

WINNER-Dwight Grant by Decision

Jessica-Rose Clarke versus Andrea Lee is Cancelled!

This is a shame. "Jessy-Jess" was pulled from the card due to complications from weight cutting. We were looking forward to this one to see Clarke's progress and to see how "KGB" Lee returned from her personal issues. Another time we suppose.

Bobby Green (24-8-1) +200 vs. Drakkar Klose (9-1-1) -240

So, is Green taking his career seriously at this point, or is he out doing dumb shit and squabbling when he should be training. If you know anything about Bob, it's that he is in a constant state of chaos in his personal life that kept him from ever being a contender in his career.

Drakkar is the typical MMA Lab fighter, picking, and pointing his way to wins and entertaining nobody.

MMAFO just cannot force ourselves to pretend to care about this but we imagine it will be Klose on the cards (see what we did there?).

WINNER-Drakkar Klose by Decision

Jared Gordon (14-2) -155 vs. Joaquim Silva (10-1) +135

The Brazilian is a hard striker who insists he is a Jiu-Jitsu player facing a formerly dead but now rising American.

Upset Pick WINNER-Joaquim Silva by Rd.2 TKO

Gerald Meerschaert (28-9) +135 vs. Jack Hermansson (17-4) -155

WINNER-Jack Hermansson by Decision

Dan Ige (9-2) -175 vs. Jordan Griffin (17-5) +155

WINNER-Dan Ige by Decision

Prelims on UFC Fight Pass (2:30pm/CT):

Adam Milstead (8-2) -135 vs. Mike Rodriguez (9-3) +115

The UFC is really phoning it in for this last Fox card. Kind of a middle finger really.

WINNER-Adam Milstead by Decision

Trevor Smith (15-8) +255 vs. Zak Cummings (21-6) -310

Zak returns to 185 and he's stronger, a better hitter, and better grappler than Smith. So, there you go.

WINNER-Zak Cummings by Rd.2 Submission

Art by Saatchi
Chris De La Roca (5-2) +360 vs. Juan Adams (4-0) -450

"The Kraken" graduated a little early into the UFC Heavyweight roster, but in that division it doesn't take much to make noise. Juan Adams, is here to make noise. The almost 300 pounder cuts down to the big heavy limit and is a big ole strong puncher who will use size and charisma to defeat foes.

CDLR started badly losing his 1st two promotional bouts, but then earned a victory over Rashad Coulter showing how tough the man is.

Adams should win this but don't expect CDLR to go down easy. As with all big boy bouts, the longer this goes the worse it looks but the new guy wins Juan way or another.

WINNER-Juan Adams by Decision
