Bellator 215 & 216: Picking The Best Bouts In Connecticut + Predictions + Odds!

Bellator 215

Matt Mitrione (13-6) -115 vs. Sergei Kharitonov (28-6) -105

Matty was nothing short of humiliated last out when Ryan Bader showed him why people train wrestling. The enormous gap in Mitrione's game has been well known for some time but the effort against Bellator's "Champ Champ" really impotent. "Meathead" is now 40, and since he doesn't have much wear from his short career, he's still solid. Natural athleticism and speed are strong but Matt is known for mistakes in the cage.

The Russian is having a small renaissance in his career winning his last 5. Kharitonov is actually two years younger than his foe but he has been doing work for 18 years in the sport with 34 pro efforts. Sergei is also a bit hitter as one would expect at big heavy.

This won't be a grappling match though if it were, Kharitonov would have the easy advantage, so really, you could just flip a coin. This is just a fun banger of a bout and MMAFO does still have love for our boy Matty who has the speed and athleticism advantages that should lead to the win.

WINNER-Matt Mitrione by Decision

Logan Storley (9-0) -800 vs. Ion Pascu (18-9) +550

A lotta hype around the "Storm" these days. He's a full package for sure but we'll see as Ion will be a nice stern test. Storley should be able to pass and maybe see the judges for only the 2nd time in his career.

WINNER-Logan Storley by Decision

Austin Vanderford (6-0) -525 vs. Cody Jones (4-2) +415

A bit of notoriety for Vandy is that he's now "Mr. VanZant" but we'll see how the fella fights before judging. Jones is the fall guy.

WINNER-Austin Vanderford by Decision

Eduardo Dantas (20-6) -340 vs. Toby Misech (10-5) +280

Dantas has won and lost the Bellator Bantamweight title twice now. Since his last loss of grip on the belt to Darrion Caldwell in '17, Ed failed to bounce back as he was knocked out by Michael McDonald in only 0:58 and broke his fibula. The Brazilian is one of the last successful Nova Uniao fighters and this is a "get-right-fight" as Toby is filling in on late notice.

WINNER-Eduardo Dantas by Rd.2 Submission

Bellator 216

Michael Page (13-0) -220 vs. Paul Daley (40-16-2) +180

MMAFO has been wishing for this grudge match for longer than the fans and we are finally, despite all efforts, getting the banger of Brits. All gimmicks and posturing aside, these dudes hate each other and that makes for some fun. Both guys can trash talk and both can swing for the fences.

The other story is that "MVP" has never faced any real threats to date, and "Semtex" is that test. Daley is a real cunt of a bellend but he can light up anyone. Still, "Venom" is more fluid and MMA gods help us if Paulie wins. Mike can dance and avoid destruction while frustrating the oft frustrated Pauline en route to bragging rights.

WINNER-Michael Page by Decision

Vitaly Minakov (21-0) -515 vs. Cheick Ouedraogo (29-10-2) +410 [Rematch]

The Bryansk Russian bounced from Bellator in a contract dispute back in '14 and worked the indies for a while but he's back. The resume is as bloated as Vladimir Putin's ego but he's legit well rounded though he hasn't been through any wars.

Coincidentally, Minakov's last Bellator bout was against "Mr. Kongo" when Vitaly successfully defended the Bellator strap. Even at 43, "Kongo" is still pretty durable, and though his last two wins were 1st rounders, he's generally one of the most boring humans on Earth. Cheick likes to attempt to impregnate his victims for the full 15.

This is gonna be looong and dreadful. You can play the "Kongo" drinking game to entertain yourself. Take a drink every time "Kongo" gives a cup check.

WINNER-Vitaly Minakov by Decision

Mirko Filipovic (37-11-2) -220 vs. Roy Nelson (23-16) +180 [Rematch]

"Cro Cop" is basically a God to the MMAFO staff and the legend has done it all and won it all in his long a lustrous career. He's just out of continual retirement to fuck around and right some wrongs. One such injustice was a poor performance and loss to Roy back in '11. Since that defeat, Filipovic has gone 11-1, winning the IGF Championship and the 2016 Rizin Open-Weight Grand Prix.

For Roy the resume has been a little different since that initial meeting. "Big Country" has gone 7-10 and has become a punching bag for opponents. Nelson can't throw the volume he used to and is content these days to just wing the overhand right time and time again.

The fun of this meeting is Roy continually implying (and straight out accusing) Mirko of cheating and steroid use. These statements have angered the former Croatian Parliamentarian for whom Pride (FC) is not just a now defunct MMA promotion. It's time for comeuppance and "Cro Cop" is going to knock the shit outta the human heavy bag and MMAFO is going to enjoy every second of it.

WINNER-Mirko Filipovic by Rd.1 KO

Erick Silva (20-9) +250 vs. Yaroslav Amosov (20-0) -300

Let's not sugarcoat it, Ericka washed out of the UFC. He's a decent fighter but damned if he doesn't make stupid decisions in the cage, and his chin is a bit suspect.

The Ukraine "Dynamo" is undefeated and made a successful Bellator debut over veteran Gerald Harris last July. Homie was a striker early in his career and now a submissioner currently.

We're feeling the new guy here. We're not sure Silva has much left or that he's really trying for more than a paycheck. Better to back the killer Kiev to begin making his name.

WINNER-Yaroslav Amosov by Decision

Valerie Loureda (0-0) vs. Colby Fletcher (1-2)

The 20 year old ATT Flyweight is making her professional debut. Loureda was on her way to the Olympics when family emergencies ended that dream. Now Val is looking to employ her taekwondo skills and build off her short amateur career. She's been coached up by Steve Bruno and should be ready to begin her MMA journey in style.

WINNER-Valerie Loureda by Rd.1 TKO
