DREAM "Fight For Japan" Bantamweight Tournament Picks & Prognostications

DREAM "Fight For Japan"

Saitama Super Arena

MMAFO has a terrible but deserved reputation for an inability to call Bantamweight fights. I'm just saying.

DREAM Japan Bantamweight Grand Prix Quarterfinals:
Yoshiro Maeda (28-9-2) vs. Hideo Tokoro (27-23-1) Though neither guy is going to impress very much, Maeda has the tools to win the fight no matter where it occurs.
WINNER-Yoshiro Maeda by Decision

Yusaku Nakamura (3-0) vs. Atsushi Yamamoto (14-6-1) Nak comes in on short notice but I would've taken Yamamoto anyway. I am A Krazy Bee fan after all.
WINNER-Atsushi Yamamoto by Decision

Winners Yoshiro Maeda & Atsushi Yamamoto for the Semi-Finals. (If correct worth 2 bonus points)

Masakazu Imanari (21-8-2) vs. Keisuke Fujiwara (11-2-4) I have never been impressed with Imanari and am taking Fujiwara just for the sake of new blood. It doesn't hurt that Keisuke has never been tapped and Masakazu's strikes are laughable.
WINNER-Keisuke Fujiwara by Decision

Kenji Osawa (16-9-2) vs. Takafumi Otsuka (11-7-1) This has "close fight" written all over it with two mirror images meeting. I like Otsuka to have an edge about everywhere but it would be no surprise to see Osawa pull it out.
WINNER-Takafumi Otsuka by Decision

Winners Keisuke Fujiwara & Takafumi Otsuka for the Semi-Finals. (If correct worth 2 bonus points)

Featured Bouts:
DREAM Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki (27-5) vs. Rich Clementi (40-19-1) [Non Title Bout] After a myriad of potential suitors for the mat magician, we landed upon "No Love," another Jiu-Jitsu fighter who looked to the minor leagues to re-establish himself among the Lightweights with mixed results. I see no way save a lucky strike that gives Rich much of a chance. Aoki picks a limb and takes it home.
WINNER-Shinya Aoki by Rd.1 Submission

Joachim Hansen (21-10-1) vs. Mitsuhiro Ishida (20-6-1) The "Endless Warrior" may make his fights seem endless but "Hellboy" likes to finish in quick dramatic fashion. I could easily see Ishida taking down Hansen over and over again which he will probably do, but he will have to avoid those vicious knees for a full 15 minutes which is no easy task.
WINNER-Joachim Hansen by Rd.2 TKO

Caol Uno (24-15-5) vs. Akiya Nishiura (11-6-1) These men are very similar in fight style but not fight flare. "Wicky" is a big more explosive but Uno is better at the wrestling game. Caol should be better but you never know with the dazzling Nishiura.
WINNER-Caol Uno by Decision

Takeshi Inoue (19-5) vs. Koichiro Matsumoto (12-2) The "Lion" had a tough go of things in '10 while Matsu killed it for DEEP. I look for good things to continue for Koi at Featherweight.
WINNER-Koichiro Matsumoto by Rd.2 TKO

Katsunori Kikuno (14-3-2) vs. Daisuke Nakamura (23-12) I really enjoy Kikuno's progress as of late. He stood well against Eddie Alvarez and Gesias Cavalcante and earlier established himself as a force in DEEP. Kikuno doesn't wow you anywhere and will be taken to the woodshed.
WINNER-Katsunori Kikuno by Submission
