MMA Melee News Round Up: UFC on Fox 2 Presser, & Tate vs Rousey Heats Up Women's MMA

At the UFC on Fox 2 press conference we got a little needed order in the Middleweight division. So Chael Sonnen (4-2) vs Mark Munoz (7-2) gets Anderson Silva first, and then the winner of Michael Bisping (12-3) vs Demian Maia (9-3) will get the Champion. Thanks Joe Silva that doesn't make sense. I listed their respective UFC records (Chael's 2nd run) to show how absolutely wrong it is. Maia has 1 win in a row while the "Count" has won 4 in a row. Munoz also has 4 in a row while Sonnen, the media darling at the event, has also only won 1 since returning from a year long suspension for PED's which nobody seems to recall. I know Dana White is all about that $, but there is nothing wrong with dignity either. Chael's continued rule breaking and loud mouth earn him the top shot while the hard working Bisping is saddled with an also ran who already had a shot at the title. In fact, the bout should be Michael Bisping vs Mark Munoz and Demian Maia vs Chael Sonnen but I digress far too late.

Rashad Evans was on point telling his opponent Phil Davis, "I'll bet you won't be able to put your hands on me. I'll bet you'll be the first one to take a shot. I guarantee you'll be the first one to take a shot, 'cuz I'm gonna put those hands on you worse than that other dude did at Penn State." Hilarity ensued but it was a terrible idea to bring your chatty bratty kid to the mics. His grabbing the mic wasn't funny and his tantrum annoying and distracting.

Beautiful warriors Rhonda Rousey and Strikeforce Champion Miesha Tate are feuding on the Internet and Twitter trying to illicit some response from the fans to give women's MMA a needed boost. There are a ton of great women fighters, and one hopes that Strikeforce will become a permanent place for women's MMA, where this dream fight would take place. Granted, Sarah Kaufman deserves the title shot but we need to get more interest brewing for the dames. That does seem hypocritical considering the 1st paragraph, but I'm talking about saving all of women's MMA not just righting the wrongs in a particular weight class. Two beautiful and very deadly women at the top of thier games and with amazing resumes could do that. Get Cristiane "Femborg" Santos someone to destroy so she can entertain, and then comes the angel in gloves, Gina Carano's return to keep the blood pumping (as it were).
* Notice in the picture how happy Cody McKenzie is to be in the middle of this feud.

Georges St. Pierre is out the Nick Diaz bout signaling this dream bout just won't happen. "Rush" tore his ACL and explained.
"I'm going to tell you right now, I'm in a downfall in my life, but in a few months, I'll be back stronger than ever, and I will be champion again. I promise."
St-Pierre said on Wednesday that he hurt himself while wrestling. He heard a crack and felt pain but tried to continue. However, consistent instability in his right leg led him to believe something more severe than originally thought. He eventually visited his orthopedist, Dr. Sebastien Simard, and an MRI showed a complete tear of his ACL as well as a smaller tear in his meniscus. That sidelines GSP for 10 months prompting Nick Diaz vs Carlos Condit February 4th for the Interim Welterweight title.

So Brett Rogers has been on a terrible losing streak in life and MMA recently but things are only getting stranger for the "Grim." First, lets cover what actually was reported by the Police for the beating Rogers put on his wife.

The attack happened in the early morning of June 28, according to a criminal complaint. A neighbor called police and said he saw Rogers punch his wife as she lay on the ground.

When Brett Rogers met police in his driveway, he told them that his wife hit him during an argument and that he struck back at her, the charges said. Brett Rogers was not visibly injured. His speech was slurred and his breath smelled of alcohol, police said.

Officers later found the woman walking by a nearby school. Her face was covered in blood and she was missing a tooth and had a "golf ball-size lump" above her left eyebrow, among other injuries, the complaint said. She told authorities her husband became angry during their argument and attacked her, causing her to black out.

Tiuana Rogers also sustained a broken jaw from the attack, Asphaug said.

The couple's children, who went to a neighbor's after the incident, said that they were afraid to go home and that their father had choked them before, the complaint said.

Jeesuz Christ. The MMA thing may not be working because Rogers only trains by beating the shit out of women. Bret is currently serving the last 60 days of a 90 day sentence for his crimes and will exit prison just 18 days to train for a fight with Tim Sylvia in DREAM on New Year's Eve. Somebody call the replacement cast because I seriously doubt this is going to happen.
