Female Fighter Profile: Paige VanZant

On October 4th, Paige VanZant (3-1) will make her Zuffa debut at UFC Fight Night Nova Scotia, and will be the youngest female fighter to ever fight for the promotion. She is scheduled to face undefeated Kailin Curran (3-0).

At only 20 years of age, "12 Gauge" was too young for season 20 of the Ultimate Fighter which will feature female Strawweights, so she's just skipping the reality show and heading right into the Octagon. 

VanZant began as a model/dancer but began her MMA training with none other than Ken Shamrock at the famed Lion's Den.

"He (my dad) was a huge fan of Ken Shamrock, so when we went out to Reno and he wanted me to a gym, I ended up falling in love with it. Ken said I had a lot of potential, and I ended up just really liking punching people in the face. He was there the whole time. He was our head coach so it was really awesome. I had a few boxing fights before I did MMA and he went to all of them. He was a really, really big support for the first part of my career. I am still in touch with his family."

Now Paige is a member of Team Alpha Male and trains out of Sacramento, Cali with the likes of Urijah Faber, UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw, and all the other greats at the camp. 

Call MMAFO bat shit crazy, but win or lose, we thinks this young lady is going to be a superstar for some reason.
