venue: Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri
Main Card (On Showtime):
Alistair Overeem (32-11) vs. Brett Rogers (10-1) I like "Grim's" chances but the problem is that he is far more 1-dimensional in the striking than the now colossal "Demolition Man." Toughness will definitely come into play here but Overeem should have enough experience to hold on to the title while making Golden Glory proud.
WINNER-Alistair Overeem by Rd.3 TKO
Andrei Arlovski (15-7) vs. Antonio Silva (13-2) Well the "Pitbull 2.0" is finally here. The Belarus native is sporting a new plan of attack and a chin made of tissue paper. Despite my love of "Bigfoot" and his constant improvement, he still isn't quite ready for the top elite Heavyweights, and make no mistake about it, chin and all, Arlovski is still in the top tier. Anything can happen in an Andrei fight but I'm 1 who bets on the percentages.
WINNER-Andrei Arlovski by Rd.3 TKO
Ronaldo "Jacare" de Souza (11-2) vs. Joey Villasenor (27-6) "Jacare" is the hot prospect of the moment as he faces "Smokin'," who is trying to become consistent and relevant at Middleweight. This ain't a fight to get right for Joey who has adequate boxing, but is going to get tied up and twisted like tortilla. Dominant Jiu-Jitsu is at play here against an average fighter.
WINNER-Ron de Souza by Rd.2 Submission
Roger Gracie (2-0) vs. Kevin Randleman (17-14) Willing to fight every 2 years, the Gracie's last hope meets the "Monster" who really is looking to rack up the most injuries in the sport of MMA. The Hammer House fighter is old, brittle, and has never developed a decent all around game save his jittery crazy man starts that wilt with his cardio at the initial 2 minute mark. I can't believe I'm actually picking a Gracie to win in 2010!
WINNER-Roger Gracie by Rd.2 Submission
Antwain Britt (11-3) vs. Rafael Cavalcante (8-2) The highly underrated Britt (who is not from England) brings the bang style against "Feijao" who reps Team Nogueira (or Black House) and will respond in kind. The big boys bombing means anyone can win, but I'm guessing people who train with Anderson Silva and the Nogueira brothers will help.
WINNER-"Feijao" by Rd.1 TKO
