TUF 20 Finale Results: Carla Esparza Crowned Strawweight Champion!

Carla Esparza submitted Rose Namajunas by RNC at 1:26 of the 3rd round to become the 1st UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion!

So “Thug” Rose started out strong enough in the 1st, backing Carla away with her long kicks and aggressiveness, but once Esparza started to get her wrestling game going toward the end of the initial round, the writing was on the wall. Rose had no answer for Esparza’s dominant grappling as the “Cookie Monster” took Namajunas down time after time and beat her so badly it was hard to watch at times. Yeesh. Well, Rose is only 22 and barely over a year into her professional career, so all is not lost. Namajunas still has great potential but this was just too much too soon.

As for the 1st UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, she could not have looked better throughout this whole process. Carla dropped the Invicta FC title to compete on the TUF 20 show, and came in with all the pressure and the #1 seed. Esparza just did her work and dominated! We'd be remiss if we didn't point out, MMAFO picked Esparza before the season started. Just saying. "Submission of the Night"

Charles Oliveira defeated Jeremy Stephens by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28 x2).

“Do Bronx” missed weight for the 2nd time which is always a blight on the record, but he owned Stephens this night. Oliveira struck for takedowns early and often, obtaining them with ease and placing Jeremy in harms way with multiple submission attempts that looked like sure tapouts. Somehow, and it was amazing to watch, Stephens fought out of tight armbar’s and chokes but it sapped all his energy and could not mount an offense. The can happen when facing high level Jiu-Jitsu fighters and Oliveira ran away with this fight, and then ran around the cage like a fool to the boo’s of the crowd.

C’mon kid, act like you’ve been there before and show some humility in the fact your opponent might of had some energy if he didn’t have to make weight either. The best moments were when Charles tried to hug Jeremy at the start of 3rd and at the end of the fight only to have the “Lil Heathen” shove him away. Pretty funny stuff.

Daron Cruickshank and K.J. Noons fight to No Contest after Cruickshank was unable to continue after the 2nd eye poke from Noons.

Fuck Noons sucks. He looked out of shape and slow and would NOT close his damn hands sticking his fingers in the face of Cruickshank repeatedly. Two eye pokes got through in vicious fashion and the 2nd will put Daron into surgery for a torn tear duct. Nice going KJ the douche bag.

Yancy Medeiros submitted Joe Proctor by Guillotine at 4:37 of the very 1st round.

Yup, Yancy is fun to watch and Proctor just isn’t much to speak of.

Jessica Penne defeated Randa Markos by Split Decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28) in a very entertaining and hard fought fight.

These women went after it! Both fight a very hard fight and it was back and forth throughout. In the end, the judges got it right giving Penne the win as her technique edged out Markos’ power. Randa has some nice potential though and is just getting started in her career. Look for her to improve and make some noise in the coming year.

Ah, the beautiful Jessica Penne. The best legs in the biz showed how damn tough she is, but she is always going to be at a size disadvantage though it did look as though she added some muscle. Still, Penne is a true Atomweight and its going to be an uphill climb to the title. She is capable though. "Fight of the Night"

Felice Herrig submitted Lisa Ellis by Armbar at 3:05 of the 2nd round.

Felice actually played the Jiu-Jitsu game of Ellis and beat her at it. That’s a shame because Herrig is a true bitch.

Heather Jo Clark defeated Bec Rawlings by Unanimous Decision (29-28 x3) to get some justice from the bitches of the TUF 20 house.

How did all that shit talk and finger flipping work out for ya Bec? Not so good. Heather grounded Rawlings showing superior skills on the mat while taking some stiff punches that swelled her face badly. Clark got a bad rep on the show but turns out to be a nice person who was bullied by a bunch of cunts. HJC won’t contend for a belt because she just isn’t skilled enough and has some lingering injury issues, but good for her to earn a little payback.

Joanne Calderwood defeated Seo Hee Ham by Unanimous Decision (30-27 x2, 30-26) in a bloody fight.

Dear god our poor “Jojo” began to bleed from the nose early and it was all MMAFO could do to keep watching. Her poor beautiful face covered in a crimson mask as the fight progressed, but Calderwood used her size advantage to pull away in the bout against the smaller, but very game “Hamderlei.” Ham is great to watch and lets see what she can do with a full training camp next time.

Joanne stays undefeated and we are still waiting on that phone call from our favorite female fighter!

Tecia Torres routed Angela Magana by Unanimous Decision (30-27 x2, 30-26) in a dominant performance.

Jesus did the “Tiny Tornado” beat the shit out of Magana! Angela had nothing to offer (as expected) and Torres looks like a lil’ beast. This girl can crack with the hands and feet like its nothing. A natural athlete this one is a contender.
Angela “The Man” won’t be in the UFC long. Besides being a horrible person, she has no skills. "Performance of the Night"

Aisling Daly submitted Alex Chambers by Armbar at 4:53 of the 1st round.

We’re happy for Aisling, but again, there is an asterisk on this bout since Daly missed weight. The Irish lass rehydrated well and came out looking good though she did only need a round to win. Nice win Daly, make weight next time please.
Angela Hill defeated Emily Kagan by Unanimous Decision (30-26 x2, 30-27).

Hill is the most raw talent on the cast with only a single pro fight coming into the finale. Angela has solid kickboxing skills and it should be fun to see how she progresses. With the right coaches Hill could go far.

8-2 for MMAFO on the picks and an extra bonus point for picking the "Cookie Monster" to go all the way from the jump!
