The Week That Was In MMA: The Good, The Bad, & The Magana

The past week in MMA was uber-busy with the UFC bringing us Ultimate Fight Night 71& 72, Bellator 140, and lots of MMA news. With all that action, MMAFO would like to take a moment to highlight the best of the three cards, as well as post our results on the fight picking game.

The Good

Frank Mir

The timeless Frank Mir is the winner of the week as he took the call-out from Todd Duffee personally. Mir didn’t attempt to use his vastly superior Jiu-Jitsu skills, instead opting to throw leather like a young man. Frank shocked the audience by landing more accurately, and more often before a left hand from Hell decapitated Duffee who fell face first to the canvas. Goddamn that isn’t even the Mir of old. That was a new, badder motherfucker! Then Frank took things a step further with some of the best quotes from a fighter in recent memory.

"But today my emotion got the best of me leading up to the fight. And I just bit down on my mouthpiece and wanted to make a statement.” Mir continued stating, “I showed a different aspect of me and now people are going to have to wonder now. I can come out and fight hard with the younger bull, but I can still be the matador.”

So far Mr. Mir has the “KO of the Year” in 2015!

Michael Page
Pundits have called Conor McGregor the Prince Naseem Hamed of MMA, but in reality it is Michael “Venom” Page. This guy has got bravado and dance skills to match when he is working in that Bellator cage. “Venom” destroyed Rudy Bears with a left hand to up his record to 8-0 and in style! This cat is “Must Watch MMA!”

Alan Jouban
The former male model is now 12-3 (3-1 for Zuffa) after defeating Matt Dwyer at UFC Fight Night 71 in the “Fight of the Night.” This sexy fella is improving each time out and always puts on an entertaining show. Alan trains with the killers over at the famed Black House as well as working his Jiu-Jitsu game with Eddie Bravo at 10th Planet. Keep and eye on this kid.

Tony Ferguson
“El Cucuy” had little trouble with veteran Josh Thomson but this guy is overconfident to a fault. Rolling for no reason, doing the Ali shuffle, and drinking his own kool-aid for all to see, we’re predicting right now that this guy shoots himself in the foot before he rises into the Top 5 Lightweights. Don’t misunderstand. Ferguson is very talented and has the tools to compete at the highest level, but he takes ridiculous risks for no reason whatsoever. 

Paul Daley
“Semtex” versus Josh Koscheck 2 is coming to Bellator. That is going to be fun.

Andrey Koreshkov
Only one MMA website predicted the downing of Douglas Lima, and the crowning of Andrey Koreshkov. Yup, that would be MMAFO. Why you ask? Despite all of Lima’s finishing accolades, he has never impressed us while we knew that the Russian would be looking to satisfy whatever game plan was necessary in order to win and bring honor back to his homeland after the embarrassment that was Alexander Shlemenko (who was just suspended for 3 years for failed drug test).

The Bad

Holly Holm
Are you ready for the “Preacher’s Daughter” versus Ronda Rousey? Well, neither is Holly. Holm has yet to look more than average in her two UFC outings and continues to struggle with injuries in camp.

Todd Duffee

Calling out "old timer" Frank Mir was a bad idea as the "Duff Man" was KO'd for the 3rd time in his career. Dude was enjoying the firefight too much and got sloppy with a reaching right hand and paid the price. Those muscles seem a bit overrated right about now.

The Ugly

Jesus Christ are we the only ones who hate this fucking guy? He sucks so hard looking like the stereotypical douche bag who lives in Vegas. Gold chains from the 80’s? Check. Slicked back mob hair? Check. Embarrassing Jersey Shore tan? Check. It is so irritating to watch this fool dance and flail around as if he’s “giving the people what they want,” as he once so arrogantly stated. Give us anyone, ANYONE else. Shit we’ll take Gilbert Gottfried at this point. 

Angela Magana

Okay are we done with this cunt yet? She has virtually zero skills and no matter how much ignorant shit she talks on social media, nobody cares. That's 4 losses in a row for this talentless bitch. Let's move along unless we can get her in War Machine's cell.

Reebok
So the fight kits are here and damned if every fighter isn’t wearing the same color scheme of black and white. Anyone else sick of this already? We thought the idea was to get rid of the Nascar look and yet the Octagon is still littered with a myriad of advertisements. Hmm, almost seems like the UFC is full of shit and the fighters are taking it right in the sponsor.
