UFC 169 Results: Nate Diaz & Miesha Tate New King & Queen Of This Motherfucker!

Main Card Results:

Nate Diaz tapped Conor McGregor via Rear Naked Choke in a massive Upset at 4:12 of the 2nd round!

What an amazing fight! This was entertaining and fascinating MMA. When the bout began, McGregor came out confident and quickly began landing that left hand powerfully rocking back Diaz. Conor begins smiling at Nate's punches and the men are talking. More big left hands land for McGregor and Nate's right eye gets cut and begins to stream blood. The Irishman is missing some big wheel kicks and that 209's own catches a kick and takes Conor down but time expires before much can happen.

The 2nd round began, McGregor begins targeting Diaz' body with punches and after a clinch against the cage with strikes from Conor, Nate's face has instantly become a bloody mess. McGregor lands a hard knee to Diaz' face and then a beautiful body-head combination. Now Nate begins unloading a bevy of strikes but Conor answers with two left hands and we are at war! Diaz begins landing at will and suddenly McGregor is rocked and unsteady on his feet. More pinpoint accurate strikes from Diaz and McGregor is in serious trouble and shooting for a respite takedown. Nate catches him on the way in with a guillotine and Conor properly twists out of the hold only to have Diaz deftly move from side control to full mount flawlessly. McGregor tries to roll out of harms way but Diaz locks in a tight RNC as the tap comes quick and Nate Diaz has defeated Conor McGregor in a major Upset and the biggest win of his career becoming legend! "Fight of the Night"

In the post fight interview Joe Rogan asks Nate if he was surprised tonight and he responds in proper Diaz fashion, "I'm not surprised motherfuckers. There's a new king of this shit!" 

Miesha Tate submitted Holly Holm by Rear Naked Choke at 3:30 of the 5th and final round to become the new UFC women's Bantamweight Champion!

The opening round of the title tilt saw Holm landing cleanly early as Tate's face reddened showing the results. Miesha cannot seem to get in range as the champ avoids everything and wins the opening round.

The 2nd found Tate getting the takedown and landing some good elbows in guard to the head and body of Holm. Miesha begins looking for an arm to twist and Holly rolls only to have the challenger leap onto her back and attempt the RNC. Tate cannot quite get the choke under the chin and Holm does a solid job hand fighting to escape to the next round.

The 3rd and 4th rounds were all Holm as she began rolling landing her strikes while Tate seemed to stall and falter.

The final round begins and Tate has to finish to find victory and her 1st UFC title. Holly is evading the aggressive Miesha well but Tate ducks under a punch seamlessly grabbing Holm's waist and  latches on a tight RNC. Holly stands and flip/slams Miesha to the ground but Tate holds onto the hold and in fact secures it tighter as Holm goes unconscious on her shield! What an amazing comeback for the gritty "never-say-die" Tate who finally gets the gold she has worked so hard for! "Submission of the Night"

Ilir Latifi defeated Gian Villante via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

The Swede controlled the action and wore down the always endurance challenged Jersey boy. Villante had a few moments landing some kicks but faded as Latifi's power punches took effect and now Ilir has won 5 of 6 for Zuffa continuing to surprise folks.

Corey Anderson defeated Tom Lawlor in a close bout by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Lawlor came out and traded with Anderson rocking the rookie and staggering him around the cage. Tom then seemed to let Corey have some time to recover, slowing his attack, which would be his undoing. "Beastin 25/8" recovered and came back showing superior skills in the final two rounds. Anderson won the bout but the 30-27 scorecards in his favor were ridiculous and unfortunate.

Amanda Nunes defeated Valentina Shevchenko via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-27).

It took some work but the "Lioness" took control of the kickboxing fight early and established a lead Shevchenko could not overcome. The slow start hurt Valentina who could not capitalize as Amanda faded badly in her 1st decision win. Nunes expects a title shot next but she is wrong and not ready.

FS1 Prelim Results:

Siyar Bahadurzada submitted Brandon Thatch via Head and Arm-Triangle Choke in the final round.

Well, two years gone but Siyar did his thing busting up Brandon over time who looked like he gave up a bit when he began to tire late in the fight. Thatch just made a ton of mistakes while Bahadurzada stayed true and technical. A poor showing for Thatch who has really fallen apart as of late. 

Nordine Taleb KO'd Erick Silva via brutal Punch at 1:34 of the 2nd round.

Silva came out and faked the glove touch only to punch Taleb in a dirrrrty ass move. Some real cowardly shit but Erick would pay for his disrespect. Nordine's size was evident but he was showing far better striking whether it was using punches or kicks. Silva threw a leg kick which Taleb caught and then delivered a crushing punch that folded Erick to the ground. One more coffin nail for the fake glove touch move and Silva was dead to the world. Really impressive win for Nordine Taleb and he's an exciting player to watch at 170. In all seriousness, fuck Erick Silva for that dirty move and he is now a pariah for MMAFO. "KO of the Night"

Vitor Miranda TKO'd Marcelo Guimaraes with Strikes at 1:09 of the 2nd round.

Beautiful, beautiful striking from Miranda. Vitor knew not to grapple with Marcelo and put together a combination that wounded Guimaraes leaving him wobbling in the air like a Mortal Kombat loser waiting for the "finishing" move. Miranda delivered it landing a head kick that annihilated Marcelo savagely.

Darren Elkins defeated Chas Skelly by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-27, 29-27). 

Yup, told ya. Elkins is a worker and some of these up and comer kids just don't know what kind of grind he's going to put on them. Minus points for the silly faux-hawk Darren was sporting that does not suit him at all.

Fight Pass Prelim Results:

Diego Sanchez defeated Jim Miller via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Old school Diego did an old school "gong and dash" sprinting across the Octagon to meet Jimmy. Sanchez was pressing like he always does and it was Miller who looked like the old shop worn fighter. Jim has now lost 4 of 5 and sadly the end is near. Diego continues on annoying the world.

Jason Saggo TKO'd Justin Salas with Punches at 4:31 of the opening round.

The Canadian looked good but he's got a ways to go to make some noise at 155. Still a nice showing and nothing to sneer at.

Teruto Ishihara KO'd Juilana Erosa via Punches 0:34 into the 2nd round.

Ishi pulls the MMAFO Upset Special being exciting as always and then calls out the "bitches" for some love.

8-4 on the picking side.
