UFC 205 New York Results: Conor McGregor Makes History in Madison Square

UFC 205 RESULTS:

Conor McGregor TKO’d Eddie Alvarez via Punches at 3:04 of the 2nd round to become the 1st competitor in UFC history to hold two belts at the same time as the Featherweight and Lightweight Champion of the world!

Conor McGregor can box with God. Conor McGregor is the King of the world! Conor McGregor is the greatest Mixed Martial Artist of all time! Well, maybe we are adding just a bit of hyperbole but the "Notorious" Irishman is running the game now as he dropped Alvarez 5 times in 2 rounds of action!

McGregor strode to the Octagon in the middle of Madison Square Garden in New York, without a care in the world. As the "Main Event" began, Eddie came rushing in with a combination but Conor threw his left hand over the top to Alvarez's temple and the champ crashed to the canvas. Eddie was almost immediately back to his feet and Conor slowly came forward exuding calm and poise. The push kick from "Mystic Mac" is landing regularly and another left hand drops the "Underground King." Alvarez is back up but again put down for the 3rd time in the opening round. Ed escapes but takes some strikes against the fence as the round ends.

Eddie immediately looks for the takedown to start the 2nd round, but Conor sprawls away easily. McGregor puts both of his hands behind his back and lands a jab before returning them to their holsters. Alvarez establishes the clinch against the fence but can't do anything with it and when the combatants separate, that Irish left hand hits again dropping Eddie who also eats a right hand and the referee halts the fight and Alvarez does not complain.

Unbelievable! The "Notorious" Conor McGregor runs the MMA industry but the champ and his longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin are expecting their 1st child together, and the Irishman may be stepping away for some family time. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Alvarez doesn't need to hang his head long. Eddie is the only fighter to ever hold a Bellator and UFC title and he is a highly successful and respected fighter. The Philly fighter was badly exposed tonight and will go back to work blue collar style as he has always done. Eddie will be back.

Tyron Woodley versus Stephen Thompson was ruled Majority Draw (47-47 x2, 48-47) after 25 minutes.

This was a long title fight that got a little screwy when the final cards were read. Both men were tentative early but the action became steady as they progressed. Stephen seemed to be leading and able to land more offense but he just did not attack often enough. Challengers need to come in and take the belt not cruising along hoping for the best. "T-Wood" hurt Thompson with that big bomb in the 4th and battered Steph to a bloody mess before narrowly securing a guillotine choke on the young upstart. If you correctly scored the 4th round 10-8, then Thompson won the final round making this an unsatisfying draw. It happens. This is only going to continue to make Woodley a villain and its not even his fault. Ha.

Rematch next for both men.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk defeated Karolina Kowalkiewicz by Unanimous Decision (49-46 x3) to retain her Strawweight title.

"JJ" was just the better kickboxer than "KK" and slowly pulled away to a shutout title defense. It was an entertaining fight and Karolina even rocked Joanna with a punch at one point which really made things tense for a moment. Even so, "Joanna Champion" was dominant and is in control of the world of women's MMA.

Yoel Romero TKO’d Chris Weidman by Flying Knee and Punches 0:24 into the 3rd round.

This "Soldier of God" cannot stop motherfucking cheating in MMA! Seriously, fuck this guy! When is somebody going to give some, any, sort of punishment to this habitual cheater? After the initial round, Romero poured water on his arms and legs and the referee had to towel him off before he could start the round much to the anger of Weidman who was watching on. Then, it happened again after Chris easily won the opener. Cheating techniques=success. Yoel launched a flying knee that straight wrecked Chris who collapsed in a heap with blood immediately pouring from his head. A gruesome finish and the New York natives are stunned! It was all eerily reminiscent of the Tim Kennedy debacle

How can the UFC give a title shot to this piece of shit? This cunt then tried to be tough calling UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping, "boy," over and over again. Unlikeable. Just unlikeable.

Chris suffers a huge loss in New York after all the work he put in trying to get MMA into the state and this is the result for his bout. Ouch. Somewhere, Ariel Helwani is weeping alone in a dark room.

Thank You Miesha Tate!

Raquel Pennington defeated Miesha Tate by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27 x2).

The big news coming out of this bout was the surprising news that Miesha "Cupcake" Tate announced her retirement from the sport of MMA.

Miesha just really didn't seem to have much to offer. Pennington stuffed the takedowns and was more active and accurate. Tate never gave up but she just didn't seem right.

Congratulations to Miesha Tate on her retirement. "Cupcake" was a Strikeforce and UFC women's champion and has the Hall of Fame next.

Frankie Edgar defeated Jeremy Stephens by Unanimous Decision (30-27 x2, 29-28) in a gutsy effort.

Stephens rocked Edgar hard in the 2nd round but you just cannot keep "The Answer" down. Frank battled back and did what he do, winning rounds and running in place. It was a fun spirited fight and both men delivered. "Fight of the Night"

Khabib Nurmagomedov manhandled Michael Johnson and won by Kimura submission at 2:31 of the 3rd round.

“Nurmy” was screaming at UFC President Dana White between rounds demanding a title shot before the fight was even finished! He had the time because it only took Khabib a single arm to big brother beat the shit out of Michael. Nurmagomedov trapped Mike's arm under his own body time and time again delivering unholy punishment. Johnson was defenseless half the time and the guy showed heart, but this was almost hard to watch. "Nurmy" keeps whoopin' dat ass sending the Lightweights scattering. "Submission of the Night"

Khabib calls for a Russia versus Ireland war post-fight and speaks incoherently. "Conor McGregor," bla, bla. bla.

Tim Boetsch KO’d Rafael Natal with mega-punches at 3:22 of the very 1st round.

Jesus fucking Christ the "Barbarian" raped Natal with punches ending this debacle early. Raf had nothing for Tim who to be fair, looked in much better shape for this outing so maybe the savage isn't done just yet. "KO of the Night"

Vicente Luque KO’d Belal Muhammad via Punches at 1:19 of the opening round.

Aw dammit. We likes us some Belal but he got shutdown before he could even begin here. All credit to Luque who looked like a murderer out there dispatching his foe with a vengeance.

Jim Miller Upset Thiago Alves by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27).

Yup, yup, that's how we do Jimmy! Miller took the fight to the oft weight missing unprofessional Alves and never let up. Sure Jim is slowing down out there but he's smart and forces openings. Miller won this fight on will and let's see what the UFC does to Thiago who is notorious for missing weight at 170 not to mention this was supposed to be at 155. Did we mention Thiago Alves missed weight?

Liz Carmouche Upset Katlyn Chookagian by Split Decision (28-29, 29-8 x2).

My wrestling is better than your kickboxing. Liz handled things and the new kid packing. Carmouche is everything that's right in MMA. She works hard and does things the right way. Its just nice to see and should be pointed out more often. Good on ya Liz.

7-4 on the picks.
